Jaguar has confirmed that it will build a production version of its C-X17 concept crossover, which appeared at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Scheduled to go on sale in 2016, the production model will be called the F-Pace, and will build on "the brand's founding ideals of Grace, Pace and Space to become one of the most innovative Jaguar vehicles ever developed."
According to the British carmaker, the F-Pace combines class-leading interior space and exceptional on-road dynamics with the functionality of a five-seater vehicle "to produce a true performance crossover."
"We received such an overwhelmingly positive response to the C-X17 concept car last year that we just had to make it a reality," said Jaguar design director Ian Callum. "The Jaguar F-Pace, inspired by the F-Type, represents a perfectly judged balance of style, performance and practicality. It offers a unique combination of Jaguar sports car-inspired exterior design, fused beautifully with a thoroughly practical and spacious luxury interior. The F-Pace is our family sports car."
The F-Pace is reportedly undergoing rigorous real-world testing at Jaguar Land Rover's global test facilities before its production begins at the carmaker's Solihull plant in the United Kingdom.
