Kia PH to launch all-new Carens compact MPV this weekend

If you happen to be in the market for a versatile family car for your brood, then you should probably head to Bonifacio High Street in Taguig this weekend since Columbian Autocar Corporation has chosen the location to be the launch venue of the all-new Kia Carens compact MPV.

Although the launch will actually take place in the evening of May 31, the venue will be filled with a lot of family-friendly activities on Saturday and Sunday--June 1 and 2--like face-painting sessions and a football clinic (Kia is a sponsor of the Philippine Azkals). Of course, for the moms and the dads, the Carens will also be available the entire weekend for test drives.

As we previously reported, the Carens will come with a 1.7-liter, diesel mill that churns out 134hp and 330Nm of torque, and in three variants: the LX six-speed manual (P1.14 million), the LX six-speed automatic (P1.23 million), and the EX six-speed automatic (P1.48 million).

Despite being more compact in size than its predecessor, the all-new Carens is still more spacious thanks to its longer wheelbase, the skillful packaging of its components, and the cab-forward design that places the base of the A-pillar above the front wheel\'s center line. It also has--depending on the variant--heated and ventilated seats, cooled glove box, fold-up tray for the rear-seat passengers, and a panoramic sunroof.

One notable fact about the all-new Carens is that it\'s the last mass-market model to bear Kia chief designer Peter Schreyer\'s design philosophy, which has been one of the biggest reasons for the Korean carmaker\'s resurgence.

With the fourth-generation Carens\'s diesel powertrain, seating capacity for seven passengers, and a broad range of convenience and safety features, CAC is confident that the vehicle \"is set to attract even more customers to the Kia brand.\"
