Is Cyan Racing not familiar to you? Then maybe its former moniker will ring a bell: Polestar Racing. The motorsport partner to Volvo’s iconic performance wing changed its name not too long ago, and its engineers have been busy.
Despite the recognizable paint job, the blue beast you’re seeing here isn’t a souped-up Volvo. It is, in fact, a racing team-up with Swedish-Chinese car manufacturer Lynk & Co—a subsidiary of the Geely Holding Group, which also owns Volvo Cars—dubbed the 03 Cyan Concept.
There’s a lot to like here. The 03, which is the foundation for Cyan Racing’s bid in the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCC), packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable of a whopping 528hp and 504Nm underneath the hood. That’s good enough for a 0-100kph time of 4.4 seconds, and 0-200kph in 10 seconds.
Then, there’s the aero fitted all around, topped by that massive rear spoiler, and the 20-inch bespoke wheels and 285/30 R20 front and rear tires the vehicle runs on.
Stopping duties are handled by six-piston calipers with 380mm ventilated discs and two-piston calipers with 278 mm ventilated discs in the front and rear, respectively, allowing the 03 to grind to a complete halt from 100kph in just 30 meters.
“This is a natural step for us together with Lynk & Co. To build a road version of a race car is a great way to learn more about a car and its characteristics," said Christian Dahl, founder
"This is a performance concept but it might also be
From the track to the road—we like the sound of that. The concept is hitting the roads in Spain with the Cyan Racing team ahead of its WTCR debut in next month. Think this blue devil will manage to impress?
