TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Mazda CX-3 now on sale in Japan

The Mazda CX-3 subcompact crossover is now on sale in Japan, with prices ranging from 2,376,000 yen (nearly P900,000) to 3,024,000 yen (P1.116 million), including tax.

For its home market, the CX-3 is equipped exclusively with the Skyactiv-D 1.5-liter clean diesel engine that's paired with either the Skyactiv-Drive automatic or the Skyactiv-MT manual transmission depending on the variant. For the mill, Mazda also developed the "Natural Sound Smoother," which supposedly reduces the familiar "diesel knock sound" combustion noise that plagues all oil-burning engines. According to the Japanese carmaker, the CX-3 is the first vehicle in the world to adopt this technology, "which both refines the engine sound and makes the vehicle quieter when running." The all-wheel-drive variants of the CX-3 also come with Mazda's new-generation i-Activ all-wheel-drive system.

"Our aim for the development of the CX-3 was to create the standard for a new era," said Mazda CX-3 program manager Michio Tomiyama. "Rather than focusing on spec-sheet values, we went back to the drawing board and asked ourselves what the essential values people seek in a car are, and created this new model with a combination of Mazda's latest technology and design. The CX-3 works in any scene, from inner-city driving to enjoying the great outdoors, and it will enable customers to express their unique individuality, unencumbered by other people's sense of values. I am certain that this car will exceed customers' expectations and add stimulation to their active lifestyle for many years to come."

How much do you think local Mazda distributor Berjaya Auto Philippines should sell the CX-3 if and when it brings it here?
