A few months ago, we reported that Mazda had released a slightly more powerful version of its iconic MX-5 roadster. It was welcome news for a lot of you, no doubt. Well, now we've got even better news: The refreshed PH-spec Miata also gets a power bump.

Just a few weeks before this year's Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Mazda Philippines gave us a sneak peek at what it has in store for the event. Among them was the updated MX-5, which sports some notable changes. First, tilt-and-telescopic steering now comes standard across the range. All the automatic variants, meanwhile, now come with a reversing camera.

There are also some new variants: a new top-of-the-line automatic RF, and a Club Edition that sports BBS wheels and Recaro racing seats. As for the engine, torque is improved by 5Nm to total 205Nm, and power now sits at 181hp versus the previous version's 158hp. Complementing the added oomph is an improved exhaust note as well as better NVH.

So, how much for all these added goodies? No info on that yet. We'll likely have to wait until the opening of PIMS to find out. But more power on the sprightly Japanese roadster sounds good to us. What do you guys reckon?
