Lazada is a pretty neat place to shop. Sneakers, clothes, gadgets—the website has it all. But cars? Not really.
That might be about to change: Mini Philippines has just announced that it has teamed-up with the e-commerce giant to sell the Mini Monte Carlo Edition. Only 20 units of the special-edition vehicle will be up for sale on the site.
Here’s the catch: The car will only be available on Lazada for 24 hours as part of the shopping site’s 11.11 Shopping Festival—that’s this coming Sunday.
Ray Alimurong, Lazada Philippines CEO, calls this an industry first. “We’re very proud that Lazada has been exclusively chosen by Mini for the sale of their Mini Monte Carlo Edition. The possibilities of e-commerce are limitless—now, people can even buy cars online,” he said. “We are very excited for another first in the Philippines with one of the world’s most iconic automotive brands. In Lazada’s best-in-class platform, Mini has found a way to extend its offline brand experience into the online space, and there’s no perfect time than launching it during Lazada’s 11.11 Shopping Festival.”
The Mini Monte Carlo Edition—a tribute to the iconic brand's racing heritage—features a handful of tweaks that sets it apart from standard versions. It comes with aerodynamic bits, a spoiler, a panoramic sunroof and 17-inch Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) wheels. It’s also equipped with a Harmon Kardon audio setup, JCW seats, and a large 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Price starts at P3,650,000.
That’s a lot to take in. Again, only 20 units will be up for grabs, and British United Automobiles president Willy Tee Ten expects them to sell like hotcakes: “We expect the Mini Monte Carlo to run out fast, so don’t miss your chance to experience the Philippines’ first and exclusive online sale as we remember the legacy of what a true champ really means.”
Interested? Then you had better stay glued to Lazada on November 11. Will you be one the lucky 20 to own a Mini Monte Carlo Edition in the Philippines?
