It’s supposedly ‘beyond tough’

It looks like Mitsubishi has something special up its sleeve for all the pickup-truck lovers at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS).

The Japanese car manufacturer has just announced that it will be displaying a special version of the Triton—known here in the Philippines as the Strada—at BIMS 2019. Fitting, as Thailand is one of the few markets out there with as much passion for the segment as the Philippines.

Mitsubishi didn’t reveal much, though. All the carmaker has given us to work with is a teaser photo showing off the show model front end draped in shadows. From the image released, we can see the company’s signature Dynamic Shield face, plus some extra lighting up top and on the bottom on the underguards (or is this simply red trim?). By the looks of it, this thing runs on beefier all-terrain tires, too.

And that’s about it so far. Could this be an electric pickup? Will it have what it takes to take on the likes of the Ford Ranger Raptor? Will it sport a Ralliart badge? All will be revealed when the vehicle makes its debut at BIMS 2019 on March 25.
