Have you been holding off buying a new Subaru WRX sedan because you want the satisfaction of manually shifting gears? If you’re nodding right now, then we have good news for you. Motor Image Pilipinas has announced that it will be releasing the much-anticipated Subaru WRX 2.0 Manual Transmission variant by the middle of next month.
The gearbox will be a six-speeder, and that’s pretty much the only difference it has with the eight-speed CVT variant. The manual WRX has similar drool-worthy features, like active torque vectoring, hill start assist, vehicle dynamics control, and the multifunction display with boost meter.
Those who want to be reminded of the fruit of their labor will like the sport seats with red stitching, 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, rear diffuser, and rear lip spoiler.
If you’re a good driver, having a manual gearbox will also help you squeeze more fun out of the stiff chassis, as well as wring the 268hp and 350Nm out of the 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer engine.
Fence-sitters will appreciate the WRX manual's lower price compared to the CVT spec: P1,818,000 versus P1,888,000. We bet you’re curious about how it drives. We have just returned the first Motor Image test unit of the WRX manual. Watch for our review in a couple of days.
