It looks like Christmas came early for car shoppers this year. The Covenant Car Company, Chevrolet’s official Philippine distributor, has just announced that the new Spark is now in the country, flaunting improved looks and an all-aluminum engine.
Design-wise, the refreshed Chevrolet Spark gets a restyled front grille with thin chrome accents that flare up toward the modern headlights. The city car also comes equipped with new 15-inch aluminum wheels, as well as more refined foglight housings and separated daytime running lights. It’s a subtle new look, but one similar to what we saw released in the US earlier this year.
The 1.4-liter engine churns 98hp and 128Nm of torque, but the motor is lighter thanks to its aluminum components. This, Chevrolet says, will result in a more responsive drive and better efficiency versus the old engine. Still, we’ll have to wait until we get our hands on a unit before knowing for sure. By the way, it’s still mated to a CVT.
You can get the new Spark in a variety of colors: Caribbean Blue Metallic, Burning Hot Metallic, and Merry Berry Me Metallic. We’ve yet to be provided photos of the interior, but expect more of the same: 60/40 split-folding rear seats, a MyLink touchscreen infotainment system, and some relatively nice trim.
The company has yet to share with us the updated pricelist, but we’ll let you guys know how much the new Spark costs as soon as we have the details. So, are you planning on buying yourself a new city car? If yes, you might want to wait a bit.
