It looks like the ongoing partnership between Mitsubishi and Nissan is already bearing fruit—very identical fruit. The latter manufacturer has just released the all-new Livina in Indonesia, and it’s basically a clone of the hugely popular Xpander MPV.
Obviously, it’s the design that gives it away—whoever signed off on it clearly didn’t have subtlety in mind. The Livina is basically a direct copy of the Xpander, save for the grille area, which adopts Nissan’s V-Motion signature aesthetic instead of Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design.
The massive, boxy headlights? They’re there, all right. The taillights, the character lines, and the fenders from the Xpander are present, too. We do have to say that we like the V-Motion look better on this MPV—it just seems to jive better with the vehicle’s overall appearance.
Even their interiors are nearly identical: The only difference between the two MPVs’ cabins appear to be the badges on their steering wheels. Everything else—from the dashboard design and layout to the controls, dials, and overall atmosphere—is the same.
Engine? A 1.5-liter DOHC mill capable of 104hp at 6,000rpm and 141Nm of torque at 4,000rpm—the same as the one underneath the Xpander’s hood. And just like its brother from another mother, it comes available with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission.
No word yet on whether this will be arriving on Philippine shores. So, do you prefer this or the Mitsubishi Xpander?
