Don’t get us wrong. We’re perfectly fine with the Philippines being a pickup and midsize-SUV country. Taller rides make sense around these parts after all on account of our s*** roads. The Nissan Maxima 40th Anniversary Edition is one of these releases. The Japanese car manufacturer has decided to go dark for its flagship sedan’s big 4-0 in the US, and boy, does it looks sleek.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: There are no performance enhancements here. Not a biggie if we’re being honest, considering the vehicle still runs on a more-than-capable 3.5-liter V6 engine with 300hp and 354Nm of torque.

No added oomph, but there’s plenty of new aesthetic to drool over. As we’ve said, the brand has opted to go dark here, giving the sedan a two-tone Ruby Slate Gray Pearl and black exterior finish. You’ll also find exclusive gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels, black exterior trim, black badging, and black exhaust tips. The choice of color outside really helps this car’s daytime running lights stand out.

The stealthy vibe carries over to the interior, albeit with a nice amount of crimson cowhide thrown into the mix. The red leather seats feature 40th Anniversary embossing, while red contrast stitching is scattered throughout the cabin. Fans of the Maxima will also notice a neat easter egg when they look at the instrument cluster, which features a design that pays tribute to previous-generation models.

Again, we’re jealous right now. The Nissan Almera and Sylphy are fine, but neither can hold a candle to something along the lines of the Maxima. Do you wish sedans were a bigger thing in the Philippine market, too?
