The Mercedes-Benz CLA's chief rival has arrived in our market. Asian Carmakers Corporation, the official Philippine distributor of BMW vehicles, has quietly introduced the BMW 2-Series Coupe in the country.
Two variants are available: the P2.99-million 220i and the P4.99-million M235i. These two-door coupes will be available in limited numbers. Only 15 units of the 220i will be sold, while fewer than 10 M235i units will be up for grabs.
Wearing the signature kidney grille and forward-slanting kidney slats, the 220i has a bold front bumper styling with xenon headlights. Its sportiness is evident in the contoured lines on its sides and black trim elements at its rear. Inside, the 220i has a driver-centric cockpit and foldable rear-seat backrests with a 40:20:40 split.
Under the hood is a 2.0-liter TwinPower turbo gasoline engine rated at 184hp and 270Nm. Having a top speed of 235kph, this coupe can hit 100kph in seven seconds, according to ACC's press materials.
The M235i M, on the other hand, promises an awesome driving experience whether in the city or on the racetrack. Designed with aerodynamics in mind, its front and rear bumpers have been remolded. It also has large air intakes, wheel arch embellishers and side sills.
Propelling the M235i is a 3.0-liter in-line-six M performance engine capable of producing 326hp and 450Nm. Mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, this motor catapults the car from rest to 100kph in just five seconds.
So, who's placing an order?
