A big part of our job as motoring journalists involves predicting when refreshed and all-new models will arrive here in the Philippines. A lot of times, it takes a bit of investigation, not to mention trying to pry info from our industry contacts. And other times, carmakers decide to give us early Christmas gifts. In this case, it’s the latter: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has announced on its Facebook page that the all-new Toyota Camry is landing on our shores soon.
Yup, no surprise reveal here—they’ve just come right out and said it. We had actually thought that this launch would happen a lot sooner, given that the eight-generation Camry was unveiled all the way back in January 2017 in Detroit. But nevertheless, it’s finally coming.
No info yet on the engines or specs we’ll be getting. In the US, customers can choose between a 2.5-liter in-line-four and a 3.5-liter V6. Looks-wise, the new Camry features a lower hood, a two-piece grille, and a lowered roofline, resulting in a sportier appearance compared with the outgoing model.
Now, we just have to guess exactly what TMP means by “soon.” Well, considering that the company schedules some media events around this time, we think the all-new midsize sedan will be unveiled either this December or in January 2019. As always, we’ll have all the juicy details once they’re available. Stay tuned.
