We’re pretty sure you’ve already seen the all-new Toyota Hiace by now. Yes, it’s the massive vehicle we recently took out on a not-so-ideal trip to Binondo. Well, get this: There’s now a Toyota Racing Development (TRD) concept version of it.

This latest TRD creation is called the Commuter Rally Support Vehicle. It’s basically a rally-ready Hiace. It was revealed at the ongoing 2019 Bangkok Auto Salon in Thailand and will be on display until July 7, 2019.

At first glance, the most noteworthy change to the exterior is definitely the application of signature TRD colors—it seems like nobody held back on those stickers and decals all around. Proceed to take a longer look at the van and you’ll notice the off-road tires underneath the riveted black fenders (which are, frankly, quite reminiscent of a Kei Miura mod). Oh, and there are rally mudflaps, of course.

Up top, you’ll see a TRD-stamped roof basket, and there’s also a stepladder at the rear. There wasn’t any indication, however, of whether or not there’ll be any changes under the hood, so you can expect the same 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine powering the new Hiace units available here. Nevertheless, this huge ‘support vehicle’ does look like it’s ready for the job, we’d say.

Would you want to see one of these in the metal? We do.
