A bold redesign for Toyota's hatchback

The refreshed Yaris is finally out in the open. Toyota Motor Philippines unveiled the updated subcompact hatch earlier today, and this one might be the car's sportiest iteration yet.

The citrus mica metallic unit you're looking at is the vehicle's all-new S variant, which replaces the previous top-of-the-line G. The front has received the most work, thanks to sleek new swept-back headlights, a cleaner-looking grille design, and an intricate mesh pattern down low flanked by new foglight housings. The rear, meanwhile, features prominent and more modern taillights.

The overhangs are also shorter despite the vehicle being 25mm longer. Toyota's also made better use of the space, most noticeably the rear which now features more room for cargo. Inside, there are modern-looking gauges, an updated central console with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and nicer trim and dashboard design.

No changes have been made to the car's performance. It's still available in either a 1.3-liter (98hp and 123Nm) or 1.5-liter (106hp and 140Nm) gasoline engine. In case you missed it, here are the prices:

*Toyota Yaris 1.3 E MT – P825,000

*Toyota Yaris 1.3 E AT – P877,000

*Toyota Yaris 1.5 S AT – P1,006,000

The car's updated aesthetics should help it stand out in an increasingly competitive subcompact hatchback market. What do you think of the refresh? Is it worth the price jump?
