Well, that was quick. Just a few days after the Toyota Alphard was launched in Japan, the luxury van has now officially made its way to our shores.
Equipped with the same six-cylinder 24-valve, DOHC with Dual VVT-i engine, the third-generation Alphard comes with a price tag of P3,277,000 (P3,292,000 for the pearl white paint job). Now, what's new with Toyota's midsize MPV van aside from its exterior makeover?
With passenger comfort in mind, Toyota worked on the minivan's interior. It enhanced the Alphard's NVH, extended its wheelbase, and lowered the floor height. The Japanese carmaker made sure ingress and egress would be a breeze for the new van's owners. The Alphard's rear seat access step is 50mm lower than its predecessor's. Its rear door opening, meanwhile, is wider than the previous generation's by 70mm.
The new Alphard also boasts bigger cargo space, with a 147L capacity for the area under the luggage room floor. The third-row seats have a slide mechanism and hidden storage space. According to Toyota Motor Philippines, six golf bags (four laid out lengthwise, and the other two sideways) can fit in the luggage compartment. In addition, six hand-luggage items can be kept in the recessed storage space.
Linear illumination for the ceiling is also available, with adjustable brightness and in 16 different colors. Other cabin features include the following:
* Roller-type sunshades (rear door and quarter glass windows);
* Eight-speaker audio system; and
* 4.2-inch TFT color multi-information display in the combination meter.
Luxury minivan shoppers have three exterior colors to choose from: Luxury White Pearl, Black and Silver Metallic.
