Filipino race car driver Enzo Pastor is adding another record to the Philippine history books by becoming the first Filipino driver to get behind the wheel of an Australian V8 Supercar series race car.

Pastor first went through an evaluation conducted by V8 Supercar series veteran Paul Morris at his namesake V8 Superschool in Gold Coast before the Filipino driver was given the go-signal to test a TeamVodafone-prepared Holden Commodore at the Queensland Raceway on September 27, Speedcafe.com reported.

"So far, so good. Today was really about showing what I can do without pushing things too hard. I learned a lot from Paul, more here than I have ever been taught in the past so for just a few hours I’m really happy," said Pastor. "When I grew up racing cars, we never had driving schools in Manila so I was very much self-taught. It was great to have Paul with me today."

Pastor sees driving a right-hand drive car as his main challenge as he reportedly drove a car with a similar configuration for only an hour and a half during his long and established racing career in the Philippines. Everything else, he believes, he can easily adjust to.

"The power to weight ratio should be fairly similar to what I am used to, it will just be the braking under the extra weight," Pastor added.
