Fiesta, Everest, Explorer drive Ford Philippines sales

'Exceptional' month for the American carmaker

Ford Philippines said it sold in October a little more than double the number of vehicles that rolled out of its showrooms in the same month last year.

In a statement, Ford said last month's sales stood at 834 units, 101 percent higher than sales in October 2010. Sales were driven by the popularity of the Fiesta and the Everest, and the introduction of the new Explorer (see photo above).

The Fiesta, which is Ford's best-selling car in the Philippines, posted a 154-percent year-on-year growth in sales last month. As much as 244 units were sold in October alone.

"The all-new Ford Fiesta continues to demonstrate its unmatched appeal to a wide range of new-to-Ford customers who appreciate its class-leading combination of fuel efficiency, design, safety and smart technologies," Ford Philippines president Randy Krieger said.

Also last month, a total of 315 Ford Everest units rolled out of showrooms nationwide. This represents a 110-percent jump from the Everest's sales in the same month last year.

Meanwhile, Ford said has sold 33 units of the new Ford Explorer since its launch last month.

"The redefnied all-new Explorer is the perfect SUV for the lifestyles of our customers, adding class-leading fuel efficiency to an impressive portfolio of capability, performance and customer convenience," Krieger said.

With the stellar performance of its current lineup, Ford said it is the "fastest-growing automotive brand in the Philippines this year" as its overall year-to-date sales "continued to lead the industry."
