The long wait is over. Ford Group Philippines has finally revealed the Ford Fiesta to the media just days before its public debut at the Philippine International Motor Show.
As TopGear.com.ph earlier reported, the new Ford Fiesta comes in 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter variants with a choice between a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback package. Pricing starts at P670,000 for the sedan with manual transmission.
The Ford Fiesta variants with 1.4-liter engines (Style, Trend MT hatchback and Trend MT sedan) are powered by a 16-valve Durateq I4 engine and a five-speed manual transmission. The 1.4-liter engine produces a maximum output of 94 horsepower at 5,750rpm and a maximum torque of 126 Newton meters at 4,200rpm.
Variants with the 1.6-liter engine (Trend hatchback, Trend sedan and Sport) are equipped with Ford’s six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission. Maximum output for this engine is 119hp and maximum torque is at 151Nm at 4,050rpm.
The Ford Fiesta comes with MacPherson strut suspension with stabilizer up front and twist beams at the rear. It is equipped with front disc and rear drum brakes.
The Fiesta 1.6-liter Sport has bigger alloy wheels at 16 inches, while the standard wheel size in the other variants is 15 inches. Fiesta Style comes with steel rims.
Other special features found only in the Sport variant of the Fiesta include the Bluetooth/Voice control with USB connectivity, steering wheel audio controls, sport-tuned suspension, perimeter alarm and rear parking sensors.
The Ford Fiesta has long been expected to be a hit in the Philippines where fuel-efficiency is a major consideration.
“We expect it to do well in the Philippines,” said Steven Tan, Ford Group Philippines vice president for sales and marketing. “Everyone will be surprised with good fuel economy, good power and low maintenance cost.”
Tan said the Fiesta’s added appeal lies in its being a global brand. The car is already the best-selling car in its segment in the United Kingdom and it just started selling in the United States. The Fiesta will be sold in the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia at around the same time.
“One thing that Filipinos are aware of is that the Fiesta is a global name,” Tan said. “You can go anywhere in the world and you’ll see the car is called Fiesta everywhere. This will give Filipinos the comfort that it’s really a global car.”
The new Ford Fiesta is sold with the following prices:
Style 1.4 MT (four-door): P670,000
Trend 1.4 MT (four-door): P685,000
Trend 1.4 MT (five-door): P685,000

It comes in Cool White, Highlight Silver, Sparkling Gold, Ice Blue and Black Mica for the four-door variants. The same colors as well as True Red, Aurora Blue and Chili Orage are available for the five-door variants.
The new Ford Fiesta will be on display at the Philippine International Motor Show from August 19 to 22 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
