Ford Motor Co. Philippines (FMCP) recently marked the roll-out of the 75,000th vehicle manufactured for export from its Santa Rosa facility. The milestone was reached with a new Ford Focus, which was part the latest batch of exports bound for countries in Southeast Asia.
Ford's export business is now worth over $950 million and production for this year alone accounts for roughly half of the said amount. The sale of locally-manufactured Ford vehicles surged 42 percent in January to November from the same period last year.
"Everyone at FMCP is proud to continue building on the success of our export program here in the Philippines, and passing the 75,000th unit milestone is a significant achievement for all of us," said Ford Group Philippines president Randy Krieger. "The continued export demand for the Ford and Mazda vehicles from our Santa Rosa facility is driven by the world-class quality and safety that our Filipino workforce delivers, and an ongoing commitment to excellence."
Ford Group, the first and only volume exporter of vehicles in the Philippines, has been exporting the Ford Escape, Ford Focus and the Mazda 3 in markets like Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia since 2002.
