This weekend, October 19-21, Foton Philippines is staging "Big Show 2012" at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. An exhibit showing off the Chinese automaker's lineup of commercial vehicles, the event will feature the Thunder pickup as well as Foton's vans and heavy machinery.
The main point of the event is to entice visitors--who, Foton hopes, will be mostly entrepreneurs--to trade in their current commercial vehicle for a brand-new Foton. The show will offer financing assistance from various banks, boasting that loan approvals can be processed in one day.
It remains to be seen whether Filipino businessmen are now ready to dump their trusty Isuzu and Mitsubishi vans and trucks in favor of Foton vehicles. They will have to answer the obvious question: "Is a brand-new Chinese commercial vehicle better than an old Japanese one?"
