Audi A2 Concept

German carmaker Audi will be enjoying the Frankfurt Motor Show's global reach when it unveils the electric A2 concept next week.

According to Audi, the A2 concept is one that will surely "make a powerful impression on the street" despite its size. It's designed to be only 3.8 meters long, 1.69 meters wide and 1.49 meters high.

"All details are subtle but shaped for visual impact," Audi said in a statement.

Only sketches are available to the media as of this posting but details on the four-seater concept include Audi's vision of the next phase in LED technology: the matrix beam.

With this technology, Audi headlights will be non-glaring even at high beam. During the day, the lights are set at a low-beam module. The A2 concept also has "intelligent tail lights" that adapt to various visibility conditions.

The Audi A2 concept also comes with dynamic lights that run below the edge of the window from the front to the rear of the car. These lights are not just for aesthetic purposes as they also serve dynamic functions. They can work as side markers when the turn indicator is activated. They also show the "strength of the brakes" applied by the driver as a red bar of lights flow from the tail light.
