Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of the popular Gran Turismo racing series, can now add "Nurburgring 24 Hours Class Winner" to his impressive resume after the Japanese racing game developer crossed the finish line ahead of his SP8T-class competitors.
According to GTPlanet.net, Yamauchi ran under the Team Schulze banner and had for his teammates Tobias Schulze, Michael Schulze and Opera Performance founder Yasuyoshi Yamamoto.
Using a race-modified Nissan GT-R modeled after the GT500 Stealth GT-R in Gran Turismo 5, Yamauchi was behind the wheel when the car crossed the finish line, completing 134 laps after 24 hours, two minutes and 26.9 seconds.
Though the team finished in 36th place overall, that was enough for Team Schulze to claim the SP8T-class trophy, in the process beating former F1 drivers Johnny Herbert and Mark Blundell who ran under Volkswagen Motorsport's banner using a Volkswagen Golf24.
