Hyundai brings Genesis Coupe to RP

In a two-fold celebration, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) unveiled its latest two-door coupe after the inauguration of its new corporate headquarters.

Calling the Genesis Coupe "a new breed of Hyundai power and engineering," the rear-wheel drive sports coupe is sculpted in ultra-high tensile steel with a form that's both sensual and powerful at the same time.

Powered by a range-topping, all-aluminum 3.8-liter Lambda DOHC V6 engine that delivers a maximum output of 303 horsepower and 36.8kg-m of torque, the Genesis Coupe is capable of going from 0 to almost 100 kilometers per hour in just 6 seconds, thanks to its Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) systems on its intake and exhaust camshafts. It also has a new Tuning Intake System (TIS) that helps cylinders breathe efficiently at both low and high RPM, allowing the Genesis Coupe to deliver both outstanding acceleration and passing performance and excellent fuel efficiency.

But the Genesis Coupe isn't all about power.

Inside, both driver and passengers will be cosseted in full bucket seats swathed in rich black leather. An Infinity sound system, complete with center speaker and subwoofer, a 6-disc CD changer, MP3 player, as well as standard auxiliary input jacks for portable audio devices like the iPod and a USB port for your flash drive allows you to play all the music you want.

The Genesis Coupe was first presented as a concept car at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. It had its debut in Seoul, South Korea last year before it was made available to other auto markets.

The Genesis Coupe will be available in Hyundai dealerships in the Philippines starting next week. It comes in five variants with prices ranging from P1.398 million to P1.858 million.
