Seriously, is any going to argue that ‘Overdrive’ by the Eraserheads isn’t hands-down the best OPM road-trip song ever written? We definitely aren’t, and if the numbers from Ely Buendia’s first online concert with Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is to be believed, a lot of Filipinos are thinking the same thing.
According to TMP, around 750,000 people watched Ely Buendia’s online concert during the launch of the all-new Toyota Fortuner last October 17. The former Eraserheads frontman performed classics like ‘Magasin,’ ‘Alapaap,’ ‘Pare Ko,’ ‘Ang Huling El Bimbo,’ and of course, ‘Overdrive.’
“Listening to these songs remind me of times when we can just get in the car and play their songs while enjoying long drives with friends and loved ones,” TMP vice president for marketing services Elijah Marcial said in a statement.
“We truly hope Ely’s music, as well as the other artists we featured during our past digital launches this year, was able to give our Toyota fans some good vibes during these challenging times.”
We couldn’t agree more. Remember: A road trip is only as good as the companions and vibes you bring along. A great drive is usually better when you have great company to share it with.
