Enough with the press releases...try out safety of Ford cars firsthand

Ford Philippines is launching its \"Caring for Tomorrow\" safety awareness campaign by letting everyone sample today\'s technologies at its Future Of Safety exhibition.

Today, October 26, people can walk into the air-conditioned tent that Ford Philippines has set up at the corner of 30th Street and Lane D in Bonifacio Global City and learn about the American carmaker\'s safety systems in its current vehicles.

First, people will get to try on the tools that Ford engineers use to understand the needs of its customers who have specific mobility issues, like the empathy belly and the third-age suit, which help simulate the restricted movements of pregnant women and older people, respectively.

Exhibit attendees then learn about Ford\'s current safety technologies: adaptive cruise control, which helps drivers maintain a safe distance from the car ahead; SYNC, which lets drivers access their mobile phone or the car\'s entertainment system via voice command, to help them keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road; and MyKey, which lets parents program a separate key for their children, limiting the vehicle\'s speed and radio volume, disabling the audio system until the seatbelts are fastened, and preventing the deactivation of the safety technologies. The attendees can also get to experience Ford\'s inflatable seatbelt system which is now used in the current Explorer SUV.

The highlight of the exhibit is when the attendees are allowed to try Ford\'s active city stop system, which is designed to automatically stop the vehicle when it detects the possibility of a low-speed, rear-end collisions with stationary or slow-moving objects in front of the vehicle, and the active park assist feature, which lets the car steer itself into a parallel-parking space.

At the end of the exhibit\'s tour, the attendees are invited to make a safety pledge and recognize their individual responsibility to keep roads safe.
