Tonette Lee (middle), a marketing executive who had previous stints at Nissan Motor Philippines and Ford Philippines, is back in the car industry after a five-year break from the automotive business. Lee, whose most recent employer was Samsung Philippines, has joined CATS Motors to handle marketing for all its car brands (Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep).
The Ateneo de Manila University alumna is certainly not a newbie in the industry. She first entered the motoring world when she was hired by NMPI in May 1996 as advertising and PR manager. She stayed with the Japanese carmaker until September 2002, after having also managed the company\'s corporate communications, government affairs and product marketing.
In October 2003, Lee was recruited by Ford Philippines to be part of the team tasked to relaunch the Mazda brand. She served as the Japanese brand\'s assistant vice president until February 2005, after which she assumed the position of marketing assistant vice president for the Ford brand. She left the American carmaker in November 2008, moving to Airfreight 2100 next before joining Samsung in June 2010.
Needless to say, leading CATS Motors\' marketing efforts will be a unique challenge for Lee, as this is her first time to handle a premium automotive brand in Mercedes-Benz. Anyway, let us be the first to formally welcome her back to the motoring community. Godspeed!
