The pandemic situation in India is arguably at its lowest point at the moment. COVID-19 cases continue to rise and hospitals continue to grow overwhelmed by the day, making it more and more difficult to address the oxygen shortage.
And as the oxygen crisis continues, even automakers such as Maruti Suzuki have decided to suspend operations at their manufacturing plants in order to make more oxygen available for medical needs.
Nikkei’s report also mentioned that Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s two plants in Bidadi, Karnataka that were shut down on Monday for annual maintenance will remain closed until May 14. In addition, appliance manufacturer Panasonic has also temporarily halted operations in some of its facilities in the country.
