New Isuzu trucks are now part of Coca-Cola’s fleet operations

The two companies ink a partnership to achieve a sustainable logistics setup

There’s a good chance you know about Coca-Cola Beverage Philippines (CCBPI)—it’s one of the biggest beverage manufacturers in the country. What you might not know about the company is that it also operates one of the biggest truck fleets locally.

Now, as part of the company’s efforts to improve its fleet operations further, it has partnered with Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), one of the biggest truck manufacturers in the industry. During a recently held turnover ceremony, CCBPI officially acquired five new Isuzu FVR trucks to be included in its fleet. These are the first of 95 trucks from IPC that Coca-Cola has acquired through the partnership.

The FVR trucks from Isuzu feature Allison automatic transmission—the first of its kind in the Philippines—crafted by automotive expert Gendiesel Philippines. All trucks have been equipped with palletized bottle carriers built by Almazora and Centro.

“For every bottle of Coca-Cola that you purchase, there’s an implicit promise that it was delivered with the utmost quality, in accordance with strict safety guidelines, and adhered to high sustainability standards,” says CCBPI logistics and distribution director Ruth Genota.

Coca-Cola’s fleet consists of almost 3,000 trucks and over 2,000 sales service vehicles. The company estimates that about 2,500 shipments per day are sent out to around 20,000 doors in the country. Through the new Euro 4- and Euro 5-compliant Isuzu trucks, CCBPI adheres to its commitment to achieving sustainable operations in fleet management by using low-emission engines while further improving its logistics and distribution capabilities.

“At Coca-Cola, we make sure that our sustainability practice is a holistic process: Our whole value chain, from manufacturing to distribution, has systems in place to reduce our environmental impact,” added Genota. “This is a continuous process of improvement, as we work toward further strengthening our environment-conscious policies, across all facets of our operations.”
