Slowly but surely, carmakers are beginning to open up shop again in locations under general community quarantine (GCQ). Is this a sign things are getting back to normal? Not exactly, but it’s a start.
Nissan Philippines is the latest company to announce the resumption of operations in select locations under GCQ. The Japanese manufacturer’s establishments in Isabela, Palawan, Camarines Sur, Dumaguete, General Santos, and Butuan are resuming both sales and service operations, while Bohol, Tacloban, and Cagayan De Oro are resuming servicing only.
“To ensure the health and safety of our employees and customers, we will be practicing regular disinfection protocols, and will be enforcing physical distancing and personal protection measures in our dealerships,” the brand said in a statement, adding that its operation in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will remain suspended until further notice.
In the Philippines, Mazda, Honda, Ford, and Volkswagen have all resumed operations in areas under GCQ. Expect more car manufacturers to follow suit in the coming weeks.
