Ford Philippines has announced that effective July 1, 2019, PK Umashankar will be coming in as the company’s new managing director.

Umashankar, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras and an MBA in Finance from the Loyola Institute of Business Administration, is currently the director of Ford ASEAN’s customer-service division. He will be taking the reins from Bert Lessard, who has served as Ford Philippines managing director since 2017 and will be returning to his home country of Canada.

“Uma’s leadership and real hands-on approach, coupled with his extensive experience across the business, will help us continue to grow our business and further strengthen our brand in the Philippines,” Yukontorn ‘Vickie’ Wisadkosin, Ford ASEAN president, said in a statement.

A veteran of the American car manufacturer who has served in India and the Asia Pacific, Umashankar will relocate to Manila and will now be responsible for sustaining the brand’s momentum here in the Philippines.
