SsangYong PH to service old models purchased from the gray market

Yesterday, we announced the return of the SsangYong brand to our market via an established and credible distributor called SsangYong Berjaya Motor Philippines (which, as its name so obviously implies, is backed up by the Berjaya Group of Malaysia, the same conglomerate behind Mazda Philippines).

One of the comments posted on the article page was this:

Will they carry the parts of the old models? I have a 2008 Actyon, and I'm having problems sourcing replacement parts even for the simple filters.

So we asked SBMP managing director Dave Macasadia, and he answered in the affirmative.

"Yes, we will accept old SsangYong models for servicing," Macasadia told TopGear.com.ph. "We're doing this because we want to take care of the brand and the customers. Of course, the procurement of parts might take a bit of time, and hopefully owners of old SsangYong vehicles will understand this."

Asked if they will charge these owners of gray-market units a special enrollment fee for the service, Macasadia said they hadn't decided yet on the matter.

Whatever the terms, this is good news for owners of aging MB100 vans and Musso SUVs.
