Motor Image Pilipinas, the country's distributor of Subaru vehicles, released its updated price list for 2018 that incorporates the new excise tax under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law. If you glanced at the list and thought that you should kiss your blue-badged, all-wheel drive dreams goodbye forever, think again. Right now, you can still get a Forester at 2017 prices.

From today until January 31, you can get any three Forester variants minus the new excise tax. Compared to the 2018 rates, the i-L is P80,000 cheaper at P1,468,000. The next variant up, the i-P, is P90,000 less at P1,678,000. If you want the top-of-the-line XT, you can save P100,000 by buying it for P1,948,000. Whether you plan to pay monthly or with a lump sum, you'll save a fair bit of money if you buy one soon.

With either a plain 2.0-liter boxer engine or a turbocharged one in the XT, the Forester is roomy and road trip-friendly, but still equipped with Subaru's vaunted handling and rally-like spirit. To avail of this promo before the month ends, visit your nearest dealership. And we do mean soon— the prices will move up to 2018 rates once February 1 hits.
