Toyota has begun production of the all-new Corolla in the United States, two months after its public launch. In Europe, the market\'s version of the world\'s best-selling nameplate has been in production since July. But unlike the US market version, which only gets a 1.8-liter engine, Europeans can choose from four different powerplants.

On top of the 1.8-liter engine with dual variable valve timing (138hp and 173Nm), they also get a 1.4-liter mill with the same engine technology (98hp and 128Nm); a 1.6-liter unit with either DVVT-i (121hp and 154Nm) or Valvematic (130hp and 160Nm); and a 1.4-liter turbodiesel powerplant (89hp and 205Nm).

Transmission choices for the European-market, gasoline-fed Corolla are either a six-speed manual or a Multidrive S automatic transmission that has a seven-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic mode, while the diesel variant gets an automated manual transmission with a fully automatic shift mode.

Just like the US-market Corolla, the European version has a longer wheelbase, a lower center of gravity, improved aerodynamic performance, and a lower, more engaging driving position. It also benefits from a lighter yet more rigid body structure through the use of high-tensile steel, revised suspension and a more direct steering response.

So, which Corolla model do you want the Philippine market to get: the US model or the European one?
