It’s always good news whenever any manufacturer opens its first dealership in a region—it’s proof that both the automotive industry and the locality are seeing economic progress, and that should always be music to anyone’s ears.
In the case of Volkswagen Philippines, the opening of its new showroom in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) means more than just progress—there’s almost a sentimental aspect to it. In his opening remarks at the launch event, Greencars Mindanao Corporation (GMC) chairman Antonio De La Fuente reminisced that there was a Volkswagen dealership in CDO in the early ’80s, and the German carmaker’s new facilities in the region signify the brand’s ‘comeback’ almost 40 years later.
“Tonight, it is with pride that we reintroduce Volkswagen to the community. Through the years, Volkswagen has evolved globally, as a brand and as a product—delivering German automotive engineering and design,” he said. “We are proud to be part of Volkswagen. To my fellow Kagay-anons, we invite you tonight to be part of the family.
“To cater to your needs, Volkswagen Cagayan de Oro has professionally trained personnel to assist you, and the latest tools and diagnostic equipment for your car servicing requirements.”
Meanwhile, Volkswagen Philippines president Felipe Estrella expressed his excitement in the company’s new undertaking: “Establishing our ninth Volkswagen dealer in the country, at the center of the logistics and business hub of northern Mindanao, was a very easy decision to make. In collaboration with GMC, we are now exactly where we want to be in the region.
“The residents and enterprises of northern Mindanao will now have more access to the German technology, build quality, and driving experience of Volkswagen automobiles and the accompanying Volkswagen aftersales services and support.”
Volkswagen’s CDO dealership operates under GMC’s Cartactics Specialist Inc. It will offer the latest vehicles in the brand’s Philippine lineup, including the Santana, the Lavida, and the Lamando.
Congratulations, Volkswagen Philippines!
