Kia is making a habit of winning design awards, particularly the prestigious Red Dot award given by the Design Center of North Rhine-Westphalia since 1955. For 2013, the Red Dot design award was given to four Kia models, with the Cee'd five-door, the Cee'd sports wagon, and the Carens compact MPV collecting the 'Winner' awards and the Pro_cee'd receiving the 'Best of the Best' distinction.

These four awards bring the total number of Kia’s Red Dot wins to 10, with the Soul crossover being the first Kia model to receive the award in 2009. The Venga compact MPV followed in 2010, while the Sportage compact SUV and the Optima midsize sedan bagged the award in 2011. The Optima also snagged the 'Best of the Best' prize in 2011. For 2012, the Rio and Picanto five-door hatchbacks were the recipients of the award.
