Mazda launches BT-50 Sport Series

Can pickup trucks get any sportier than they already are? For Mazda, the answer is yes.

Mazda Philippines has transformed its BT-50 workhorse pickup into a "playtruck" with the introduction of the Mazda BT-50 Sport Series.

Designed with sporty motoring enthusiasts in mind, Mazda improved the BT-50's already well-known workhorse stature with enhancements that also make it an ideal for those who lead an active and sporty lifestyle.

Giving the BT-50 Sport Series a playful yet edgier look is an over-rider that perfectly yet discreetly complements its front bumper. To give it a sporty yet classier appearance, a new fog lamp and rear lamp bezel design matches the chrome step plates while the smoked visors on the side windows give the BT-50 Sport Series pickup a tough yet playful appeal.

Capping the BT-50 Sport Series' athletic essence on the exterior are the eye-catching aggressive decals on both sides of the truck. Add to that the lockable hard tonneau cover that serves to maximize the truck's load carrying capability.

Of course, the BT-50 Sport Series isn't all about looks as it also has the brawn to back up its rugged nature with a 2.5-liter MZR-CD engine that packs 143 horsepower and 330 Newton-meters of torque. It's also a B-5 capable engine so it can take a fuel mixture of five percent biodiesel and 95 percent petroleum diesel, making it sporty yet "green."

Putting power to the BT-50 Sport Series' wheels is a five-speed manual transmission and a two-wheel drive transfer system.
