The paint on the recently launched CLS Shooting Brake hasn't figuratively dried yet, and now Mercedes-Benz has come out with a high-performance version of it in the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake.

"After the successes of the CLS55 AMG and the CLS63 AMG, we are now consistently pursuing the philosophy of offering our customers unrivaled, exciting high-performance cars with the new CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake," said Ola Kallenius, chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "The CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake is establishing a completely new, small and select niche sector, and is expected to delight new customers just as much as it will existing AMG enthusiasts. The combination of performance, style and usability is unique."

Like its sedan counterpart, the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake is powered by the same 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine that puts out 525hp and 700Nm, although the limited-edition 'Edition 1' variant has these figures bumped up to 557hp and 800Nm. The difference in power output allows the Edition 1 model to run the zero-to-100kph sprint 0.1 second faster than the standard CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake's 4.4 seconds, but the electronically limited top speed is the same at 250kph. Transferring the power to the rear wheels is a 7G-tronic Plus automatic transmission.

Making the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake visually distinct from the regular CLS Shooting Brake are the AMG-designed kit like the front apron, radiator grille, hood, rear apron and sport exhaust system, to go with the broader front wings with "V8 Biturbo" lettering.

The car's interior also received a lot of AMG-unique items like the Nappa leather multi-contour sport seats with memory functions, Black Piano lacquer trim, and instrument cluster with matching AMG menu and start-up screen. Completing the special touches to the interior is the AMG-specific, IWC-design analog clock.

Like the standard CLS Shooting Brake, the AMG63 variant is offered with the optional designo wooden luggage compartment floor.

Sales of the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake will commence in November.
