Chevrolet's local distributor, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), is making an even more aggressive push into the Philippine car industry by giving us a preview of two new vehicles it plans to bring in soon--the Chevrolet Orlando and the Chevrolet Traverse.

The Chevrolet Orlando is the brand's entry into the competitive compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) market. A 1.8-liter ECOTEC engine that has been designed for maximum fuel efficiency will power the Orlando while a raft of features like seating for eight people, an incline sensor, Child IsoFix seats and roof curtain airbags to go with the front- and side-mounted ones make the vehicle the perfect vehicle for the young Filipino family. There's even an airbag deactivation switch to protect a child seated on the front passenger seat from injury.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Traverse will be pitted against other vehicles in the crossover segment. The Traverse is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. Safety and security features like dual front airbags and head curtain airbags, stability control with traction control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and blind-spot mirrors make the Traverse an even more attractive crossover option. Like the Orlando, the Traverse has room for eight passengers.

Chevrolet Philippines managing director Atty. Albert Arcilla said both vehicles will be available in the country before the end of 2011.

"Having more models sends a signal about the strength of the brand and that's what we really want to show," Arcilla said.
