Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. announced a special inspection recall for select Mitsubishi Strada pickup trucks and Mitsubishi Montero Sport SUV.
Vehicles involved in the recall are Strada units sold from September 2006 to June 2009 and Mitsubishi Montero Sport 3.2 GLS and GLS SE 4x4 AT models sold from September 2008 to February 2009.
"The special inspection recall is to check the proper tightening torque of the mounting bolts of the upper suspension arm," Mitsubishi said in a statement. "The reason for the insufficient initial tightening torque could be caused by possible misaligned holes of the two metal sheets of the front upper arm."
Close to 9,000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Mitsubishi Strada units are involved in the recall.
"Mitsubishi Motors Philippines service centers nationwide have been alerted to inspect the problem on all suspected units," Mitsubishi said.
The inspection process on the affected Mitsubishi vehicles takes two hours or less.
