Look: There’s now a 60kph speed limit along the C5 Link Flyover

The 2019 opening of the Cavitex-C5 Link Flyover, also known as Segment 3A1 of the C5 South Link Project, was a godsend for Metro Manila motorists. Not only did the new piece of infrastructure finally improve traffic in the area, it also significantly cut down travel time from Villamor Airbase to Taguig, turning what was routinely a 1.5-hour odyssey into a short drive.

Have you gotten used to passing through it? Then you’re going to have to start keeping tabs on how fast you’re traveling, as Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) management has finally imposed a 60kph speed limit along the C5 Link Flyover. Look:

Yes, those are images of traffic enforcers with speed guns apprehending speeding motorists. Yeah, yeah, we know: 60kph is pretty restricting considering how open that stretch of the expressway is sometimes, but the travel time is still a hell of a lot faster compared with before the flyover was opened, even with the speed limit in place. Also, it shouldn’t be too big of a deal. The NAIA Expressway (NAIAX) also has a 60kph speed limit.
