The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working nonstop to finish the Skyway Stage 3 project, and if things go according to plan, motorists can expect most of the expressway to be done by the end of 2019.

In a statement, DPWH head Mark Villar said that the 18.68km elevated expressway from Buendia in Makati City to Balintawak in Quezon City will be “substantially completed” within the year. The latest portion set to be completed is the Skyway Stage 3 Plaza Dilao ramp, which opens this month. Look:

“Construction of Skyway Stage 3 is in full blast. We are working 24/7 to deliver the infrastructure this July,” Villar said.

“Section 1 from Buendia Avenue in Makati City to Quirino Avenue in Nagtahan, Manila, is now 83% completed, while Section 3 from Ramon Magsaysay Avenue to Balintawak is 81% completed,” he added, saying the Skyway Stage 3 main line is now being fast-tracked.

The DPWH claims Skyway Stage 3 will reduce travel time from Buendia to Balintawak to just 15 to 20 minutes. Anyone who makes this drive on the regular knows how big of a deal this project’s completion will be, so cross your fingers it opens on time.
