If you travel frequently between Mandaluyong and Makati, then we’re sure you know that the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge (Rockwell Bridge) has been closed for renovation since the turn of 2019. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) estimated the construction to last for 30 months. Once completed, the bridge will serve 1.3 million cars daily.
The closure of Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge caught a lot of flak from netizens and legislators alike, with most of them saying that putting a four-lane bridge in its place will only create a bottleneck on the two-lane side in Mandaluyong. Senator Grace Poe was one among those who questioned the project.
Regardless of what anyone says, however, the project is already underway, and here we get to see a clear picture of the ongoing construction courtesy of YouTuber dmitrivalencia’s latest footage. You may view the embedded video below:
It’s apparent by now that this YouTuber has a knack for documenting infrastructure projects, some of which we’ve also shared just recently. This drone’s eye view of the bridge renovation shows us the developments so far: Save for the few hundred meters of road stretching out from the side of Mandaluyong, no columns have been put up across the river yet. However, roadwork on both sides has already begun.
For now, we can only wait and see how the rebuilt structure will affect traffic in the Makati-Mandaluyong area. What do you think of the progress of the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge’s renovation so far? Let us know in the comments.
