Metro Manila may become world’s worst city to drive in yet again for the second straight year

“It seems as if the traffic situation in Metro Manila keeps worsening by the day. If you feel like driving around the city has never been more dreadful than right at this moment, then you’re probably correct—data from a recent study conducted by Waze in September 2019 reveals that our nation’s capital is poised to become the world’s worst city to drive in for the second year in a row.

“According to a Bloomberg report, Waze’s data shows that it takes roughly five minutes to travel one kilometer in Metro Manila—a significant increase from the 3.8 minutes per kilometer tallied back in April 2019.”

The first 10-kilometer segment of CALAX is now officially open

“After several weeks of anticipation, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) have finally opened the first 10-kilometer segment of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).

“The MPTC has announced that from October 31 to November 2, this first segment will be accessible from 6am to 10pm. Beginning November 3, the expressway will still be accessible from 6am to 10pm every Friday and Saturday, but only from 6am to 6pm from Sunday to Thursday.”

The DPWH has completed the rehabilitation of Marcos Bridge

“Here’s a bit of good news we received a few days before the Undas weekend began: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that the Marcos Bridge has has reopened last Thursday, October 31.

“The Marcos Bridge serves as one of the major roads servicing motorists and commuters traveling within Marikina and between Marikina/Antipolo and Quezon City. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) estimates at least 3,000 vehicles passed by the bridge every hour prior to its closure.”
