Expressways are not playgrounds where you can go flat-out with your weekend toy. It doesn’t matter how fast, rare, or expensive your car or bike is—speeding is just outright illegal.
If you often go above the 100kph speed limit along our tollways, you endanger not just your life but the lives of other motorists as well. On most occasions, speed traps take care of these violators. But in this instance, the traffic enforcers along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) flagged down the guy themselves, just right after the NLEX Bocaue toll plaza.
How fast was the guy running, though? The officials said he was doing 153kph. But he could have been going even faster before speed guns caught him.
What makes matters worse is that the vlogger himself posted the video on social media. This, dear readers, is not something to brag about, but we bet most of you knew that already. The Land Transportation Office responded by calling him out on Facebook. Check it out below:
Driving this fast on public roads is extremely dangerous even for four-wheeled vehicles, let alone on a motorcycle—even if it’s a BMW F750 GS we’re talking about.
In light of this, the LTO also reminded motorists of the equivalent penalties for these violations. In case you’re not familiar, you can refer to the list below:
- First offense – P2,000
- Second offense – P3,000 and suspension of driver’s license for at least three months
- Third offense – P10,000 and suspension of driver’s license for at least six months
- Fourth offense – revocation of license for non-professional drivers (violators will also be prohibited from acquiring new licenses for two years from apprehension)
This serves as a fair warning for defiant motorists out there. If you want to drive fast, you can always go to a proper track for that. And quit thinking you can always get away with violations on tollways—this other guy is additional proof that you won’t.
