Enzo Pastor

Last week, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte announced a P1-million reward for whoever could provide concrete information that would lead to the arrest of the killers of race car driver Enzo Pastor, who was shot dead in Quezon City late evening of June 12 this year while he was driving a truck to transport an Asian V8 Championship car to Clark International Speedway.

Some people commented on social media that it was a sad state of affairs that it had to take a mayor from Mindanao to ensure that the wheels of justice would keep rolling for the Pastor family.

Well, President Noynoy Aquino, in his State of the Nation Address delivered yesterday, let everyone know that his administration is likewise giving priority to the Enzo Pastor case. He said in his speech (in Filipino):

In English:

This past June, we had a succession of high-profile killings. We have already arrested some of those involved in the murders of Mayor Ernesto Balolong and businessman Richard King, and are currently following a strong lead in the murder case of race car driver Ferdinand Pastor. Rest assured: We are seeking justice for all, and not just for a few. This is why, on top of the arrests we have already made, we continue to gather evidence against other suspects. We will hold to account all those who have committed wrongdoing.

If this is not mere grandstanding, we expect the case to find resolution soon. And good luck to the culprits. You will need a lot of it if the President and Mayor Duterte are personally going after you.
