Senator Alan Peter Cayetano today posted on his Facebook page the above message addressed to the Land Transportation Office. "No Moratorium, No Budget," the lawmaker said, an obvious wordplay on the LTO's "No Plate, No Travel" policy.
The image was accompanied by the following caption:
Senator Cayetano will block the Land Transportation Office's budget for 2016 and push for zero allocation if the LTO doesn't shape up, start listening to car owners, and be more sensitive to public needs. "Walang mawawala sa LTO at sa gobyerno kung sa loob ng 30 araw ay huwag munang ipatupad ang 'No Plate, No Travel' policy. Ito ay habang inaantay ang supply ng plaka at nirerepaso ang sistema ng pagrehistro at pagkuha ng plaka."
Call it grandstanding if you want, but if it has to take a politician with vested interests to call attention to the LTO's inefficient car-registration system, so be it.
