San Miguel Corporation (SMC) recently announced that the Hillsborough Skyway off-ramp will be permanently closed on April 19, 2021. Now, the company has confirmed that starting 6am on that same day, the steel ramp near the Alabang viaduct will be made exclusive to southbound motorists.
This is the two-lane steel ramp that connects the at-grade portion of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to the Skyway. It was opened way back in late 2019 to help ease the worsening traffic along the southern tollway that was, coincidentally, caused by the start of construction of the same Skyway Extension that was partially opened to the public earlier this week.
“We’d like to remind our motorists of our earlier announced traffic rerouting, which will begin on Monday, April 19, due to the closing of the Hillsborough off-ramp. We are asking for your kind understanding and cooperation as we make these necessary adjustments in order to complete the southbound Skyway extension,” said SMC president Ramon S. Ang. “We’re targeting completion by the third quarter of this year, so we hope you can bear with us. This project will greatly benefit motorists from the south and solve the long-standing problem of traffic in the area.”
The southbound section of the Skyway Extension Project will be a two-lane, four-kilometer road that will reach all the way to the Muntinlupa area of SLEX.
Take note of these changes, readers, especially those living in or frequenting the south. As for motorists headed northbound to Pasay, Makati, Manila, or Quezon City and are looking to enter the metro via Skyway, SMC is suggesting you take either of these two routes:
- For Class 1 vehicles coming in from the south (before Alabang): Simply take the new northbound Skyway Extension on-ramp near Soldiers Hills
- For Class 1 vehicles coming in from Alabang: Enter SLEX via the Filinvest southbound on-ramp, exit via Susana Heights off-ramp, make a U-turn and drive onto the Susana Heights SLEX northbound on-ramp, then head onto the Skyway Extension on-ramp near Soldiers Hills
