Motorists down south, take note: The southbound Alabang toll plaza will be temporarily closed beginning midnight on February 20, 2021, to make way for Skyway construction activities.
San Miguel Corporation (SMC) says the closure is in line with the company’s move to expedite work on the Skyway Extension Project. In a statement, SMC president and CEO Ramon S. Ang called this a “temporary inconvenience” that cannot be avoided.
“There is no way of getting around this key stage in construction,” Ang explained. “We really have to do it. It will be a temporary inconvenience, but I promise you, the benefits—eliminating traffic and providing seamless travel—will be well worth it.”
SMC has released information on alternate routes to keep traffic flowing smoothly during the closure:
- Class 1 headed to Alabang or Alabang-Zapote Road may take Filinvest Exit Toll Plaza toward their destination.
- Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles bound for Alabang, Putatan, and National Road may take the Susana Exit Toll Plaza, turn right at Susana Heights Avenue, and turn either left or right on the National Road to their respective destinations.
“We’re again appealing for patience and understanding from our motorists in the south and residents in the area, for any delays that they may experience, as we work to complete the Skyway Extension. We’ve put in place measures to help mitigate the impact on you and to ensure safety,” Ang said.
It’s a bummer, but once the Skyway Extension Project is done, motorists can expect faster travel to Susana Heights and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway. This should be worth the temporary inconvenience.
