In case you missed it, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced that students will be allowed to ride select train lines for free from Monday to Friday (except holidays), and during select hours of the day.
This student freebie begins on July 1, 2019. Excited? We’re sure you are, but you need to register at this link to get your student pass, the DOTr says.
The link leads to nothing more than a form that is simple enough to answer. Students must provide their full name, name of their school, student number, educational level, and a photo of their student ID, among other things. The form also asks students what their most frequently used rail line is.
Check out the DOTr’s guidelines below:
- Completely fill out the application form. Applications with incomplete details will not be processed.
- Please wait for the advice of the DOTr through your registered email when your Student Pass is ready for pickup. Please bring reference documentation when claiming your Student Pass.
- All the personal information provided in this form are freely given with consent as evidenced by the uploading of the applicant’s photo ID and signature, and in pursuant to the provisions of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 or Republic Act 10713.
Again, the free rides for students will begin on July 1, 2019. That’s on Monday, and students may avail themselves of this at all MRT-3, LRT-2, and PNR stations.
